Drongo is a serial variety comic by Melbourne illustrator Natalie Michelle Watson. It is the embodiment of 90s Australian nostalgia; think Oddbodz, Peter Combe, Agro, and stuffy family road trips with no air-conditioning to see the Big Banana over a long weekend. Many of the comics are deeply personal, reflecting Natalie’s own ideas about the past, present, and future of the current generation, combined with her own life experiences. The comics in the ‘Drongo’ also touch on the social effects of gentrification and globalisation, as well as the future of politics in Australia and the world. Most of it’s just for a laugh, though.
